Christians4Science is An Apologetic Work of the Villa Rica Church of Christ
There is a multistate effort underway in the USA to update and improve science education in K-12 public schools. This effort began over two years ago when the Carnegie Foundation and the National Academy of Science began the process of improvement. That is a good thing. The bad news is the curriculum includes Darwinian evolution, especially in life sciences.

As Christians, we support quality education and want our children to have the best learning opportunities. God gave mankind the command to have dominion over creation. "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth." Genesis 1:26. It is often stated that science is thinking God's thoughts after Him. Good science and Christianity go hand in hand and are not in conflict. An effective education in K-12 science is important to every Christian home. While there are many positive and outstanding aspects of this improvement effort, it is important that the Christian be aware of upcoming changes to the science curriculum.
Darwinian evolution is opposed to the Christian world view. Also, it is bad science. Georgia changed science curriculum in 2006, including some new standards regarding evolution. Once the standards were in place, it is mandated to teach those standards, even against community opposition . Because they are standards, citizens are told little could be done.
That was the past. Today we are facing a bigger challenge. This does not only affect Georgia. Over 26 states are involved in this new effort and are being compelled to include evolution in developing the new national science curriculum. As it stands, by 2014 Georgia and other states will have adopted and will begin implementing new standards based on this revision. We now have an opportunity to be involved in this process and demonstrate a proper, needed influence.
Our effort is centered on challenging the science of evolution. Our goals are to inform the public and engage the Christian community into action. We want content about evolution removed and the science pertaining to each topic rewritten without evolutionary bias. We are not asking Creationism be taught in public schools. That is the job of the church and the home. These two institutions are urged to get on board and teach more on this topic. Perhaps our lack of effort in this area has resulted in present circumstances. Now is the time to be silent no more, voice our disapproval, take a stand, and engage in needed action.
What can we do? First, we need to educate ourselves about this issue. The links below will provide resources and other information. Then, we need to speak up and out about this concern. Get the word out! We are for science and quality education. We will no longer be used by the Darwinists. We also need to be ready to provide educated feedback when public comment is asked by curriculum developers. This will be May 14 to June 1, 2012.
Will you engage in this important matter? Will you help see to it that good science returns to public education, where God can be glorified and Christian homes be respected once again?
